Hmm, looks more like a misogi exercise. Aikido in some forms often takes the approach of swordwork as being an extension of the unarmed techniques and NOT as sword-fighting in themselves. Most Aikido has lost interest in pragmatic techniques, and fortunately the majority of Aikidoka realise this and don't consider aikiken as "real" kenjutsu.
(disclaimer: the kumitachi exercises used by some branches, notably the Iwama style, are distilled from the Kashima Ryu and are comparable to kendo kata in terms of "combat reality" - whatever that may be)

I don't know enough about Aikido to say anything useful about it techique-wise , however I just don't think we should make fun of anyone just for the heck of it. I'm actually pretty pleased to see some Martial Arts other than full contact sports in the less fortunate parts of former eastern Berlin (where even a "tent-dojo" is a large step). They're not claiming anything about Kendo or saying this is any official kata or anything so I'd say, let him dance all he wants :) .

Lol, distinct movements. There's no thought to his movements. It's, like, "Now I'll do this, now I'll do this and this...". I'm confused as to the purpose of him doing that kata at all.

I think he is the dojo leader as well ;)

The "kata" part is a mis-nomer. It looks like he's doing one of those free-flowing exercises where the point is to have no heavily puctuated technique: i.e. every movement should flow into the next one. It is not sword work per se.

I had a friend of mine, who does aikido, look at their website (http://www.fiedermann.de/ki-aikido/index.html) and the aikido videos and it does look serious enough. They're teaching "Ki-Aikido" and my friend said it doesn't look like a mcdojo. He doesn't know what that sword swinging "kata" in the above video was supposed to be, though.
