There was indeed a wrestler called kendo nagasaki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kendo_nagasaki) I remember seeing the match when he was unmasked by Big Daddy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shirley_Crabtree) (must've been on a repeat obviously as it happened before I was born according to wikipedia....).

Thats Cross on the Tare is actually the Symbol of Ballarat.
Ballarat is a town/mini city, 1.5 hours drive from Melbourne (Australia)

qpuppy is mostly correct, it is the Eureka Flag (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eureka_Flag). Since it was used in Ballarat it has become known as the symbol of Ballarat (local Schools, uni's, businesses use it) That is why the Ballarat Kendo Club use the logo on thier tare covers.
True, it is also used for protest (mainly by unionists)
P.S. I have started playing around with that little kendo char again and there maybe a little anim of him soon hehehehe.
