Dear All
As you may already know the London Cup is being held in May 2008, and covers 5 person teams and individuals.
The ladies individual event is growing rapidly and we are very keen to promote ladies kendo in Europe and would love to welcome more women to our competition.
We have ladies from Austria, Britain, Spain, Japan, Korea and Portugal attending the Ladies Individual from grades Mu Kyu through to Godan.
Our Sensei Hyun Hong Cho is a 5th Dan former Professional Kendo Teacher and National Team member from Korea and is very eager to help ladies Kendo through the London Cup.
We also have an all ladies team in the team tournament, and would love to have some more.

Hi Onsen
Please do encourage the Polish Ladies to attend. It would be great to see a delegation from Poland. I have given word to the Polish Association, but if you could also let people know that would be most appreciated.
Thanks

Dear All
With just over a month remaining to the Event we have had a constant stream of registrations and participant numbers continue to grow. Thank you to everyone from the UK, Europe, Japan, and Korea who have shown their support for the London Cup by registering online and joining us in what we hope to be an amazing and exciting event for all involved.
The promotion of the ladies event is proving to be very successful, we now have two all ladies teams in the main team event, one from Spain and the second from Ireland.
We also have more ladies joining the ladies individual tournament every day, and hope to also shortly welcome a ladies delegation from Poland.
We now have a new confirmed special guest at the event Mr John Howell Sensei Nanadan Kyoshi and President of the British Kendo Association. We are very grateful for Howell Sensei's support and help with the London Cup.
New updates also include recieving the Trophy, Medals, and Fighting Spirit Prizes. Full photos of these fantastic awards are now on the London Cup website http://www.londoncup.co.uk/page7.htm
Many thanks to our kind Sponsor Sankei International for these medals and fighting spirit prizes that have been shipped specially from Japan.
There is still plenty of time left to register your teams or to join the individual event. If you would like to join the London Cup please register online to avoid dissapointment.
Many thanks again to everyone here at Kendo World for their interest and support for this exciting Taikai. We hope that the London Cup can serve to develop and promote Ladies Kendo in Europe for many years to come.
We look forward to seeing you all next month
Best wishes

We are very honoured to have Yanai Sensei join us and thank him deeply for his commitment and support of British Kendo over the years.

Dear All
Due to phenomenal demand both nationally and internationally we are “soft closing” registrations for the London Cup, as of Wednesday 16th April.
This means that after this time no additional new teams will be able to enter registration for the London Cup. However Teams who have already registered or written to us with an intention of registering will be able to complete the subscription for their team and provide us with any missing names and details.
If you have any members who would like to join the individual event, or if you would like to send a team to the London Cup, please have your registration details with us no later than Wednesday 16th April.
We would like to thank everyone at Kendo World for their fantastic support and enthusiasm for the London Cup. With your help we have really been able to make this an amazing and memorable event. We have had great support in both the womens individual event and the team event and we hope that the London Cup can help to promote and develop womens kendo throughout Europe this year and for years to come.
We are very sorry if you are unable to join the tournament this year, and look forward to welcoming you next year to the London Cup 2009.
Kind regards
The London Cup Team

Dear All
Registrations for the London Cup are now fully closed.
We would like to thank everyone again for their fantastic support. We have over 160 registered competitors for the event from countries all over Europe, as well as guests from as far afield as Japan, and kind support from Australia via our Sponsors Sankei International.
The London Cup is now just over a week away and we are all extremely excited.
However the event could be nothing without you, our competitiors, friends, supporters, and helpers. Each and every person has played an equal part in making this a truly memorable and great weekend of kendo.
Competition trees have now been drawn and finalised and we will be posting them online on Friday May 2nd in tyhe evening after the ji geiko. We will also be distributing them on the day on Saturday and Sunday to all competitors.
Best wishes

Just a quick thank you to all the organisers, participants and helpers of the London Cup, 2008.
You haven't even held the event yet but have made a great impact on the UK, european and international kendo scene. I am sorry that I cannot help out but as you may know, our own kendo event for juniors in Aberdeen, Scotland- The Thistle Cup (4th year) is on the same weekend.
Created by Yamazaki Kazuo sensei this has been a very successful way of promoting kendo and Japanese culture in Scotland. This year our youngest participant will be 6years old and we are hoping for more than last years total of entrants (around 50). Yamazaki sensei and his wife are travelling from Japan just to support and organise this event for us and we, in Scotland, are very grateful to him.
Once again, congratulations on a very well organised event; best of luck over the wekend and I hope that next year I can take part in both.
Best wishes,
Steve Bishop

The Thistle Cup is also a really important kendo event, not just for Scottish Kendo but for British Kendo in General as its nuturing the young kendo talent of the UK.
It's a real shame that we had to clash this year as I would have loved to come to Scotland as well to help, unfortunately as Yamazaki Sensei was flying from Japan I believe it was very hard to hold it at any other time.
Best of luck to our friends in Scotland and next year we can plan the calendar in a more flexible way to accomodate both events.

Dear All
Thank you very much for all of the fantastic support that the London Cup received this weekend just gone. It was wonderful to see Kendoka from so many countries visit London and it was great to see such great kendo over the length of the tournament.
The Ladies event was well attended and there was some beautfiul Kendo on display. The final between Hyun Hong Cho of UAK and Fumiko Mori of Waseda University was particularly exciting!
We now have some updates on our website.
For full results please see http://www.londoncup.co.uk/page2.htm
And also our Gallery is at http://www.londoncup.co.uk/page3.htm
The Gallery pages are being updated daily so we hope to have full pictures up online very soon. As well as the great amateur photgraphy we also had a large number of professional photographers visiting, in particular we would like to give a very special thanks to Caleb Crane (Simulacre) for his support and great work.
Current gallery pages are pictures from the Ji geiko on Friday evening, these are courtesy of Adrian Jones, who got some great shots.
Most definately we will be hosting the London Cup again next year, we will post dates very shortly, so please keep your calendars free for 2009.
Thank you again everyone for making it a warm, friendly, and thrilling competition.
Best wishes
