Yeah, we will invade you, KWF.

Well, i think introductions are in order.

I am another of the 20 or so (?) Kenshi coming from uruguay that can be found here in KWF. I just started practising Kendo about 3 months ago, under the teachings of Kubo Ikushi Sensei and Kubo Ikue Sensei, in, as most uruguayans here, Yamato Kendojo, alongside Leon (The Limp), Daniel (Fukuryu), and many others, and been hearing about KWF so much, that it was high time i signed in.

I'm a Kendo Sankyu, and missed my chance to take Nikyu and Ikkyu already, for lacking both the hakama and Uwagi, which both need to be custom made for being... *ahem* extra large? LOL. And for that and the lack of a bogu, i havent been able to join my other dojo-mates in part of the training.

Me having a bogu soon will depend on Fukuryu getting his new one, so I take it it may be a while. But, my clothes are being made (since december) and i take it they have at least for another whole month before I'll be able to use them, so that gives him some time. No pressure there, Daniel-san.

As you may have guessed, Kendo in Uruguay has grown a bit since my dojo-mates first presented themselves here about... a year ago, give or take a few months. So now we are still the biggest dojo, but we have around 30-odd people signed, although there must be only 20, 25 of us who are regulars.

Last Saturday, Kubo Sensei, both of them, left us with our last class, so now training under Tihista Senseis regime has started once more. Classes are by far harder than Kubo Sensei's, since, as Tihista Sensei said, they were hear to teach us, not to train us. So, training is harder now, and although i have a bit of trouble keeping up, I'll do my best.

Well, I hope to get to know many more kendokas here, and get to learn more about Kendo, which I still have a lot to learn about.

Welcome, Fede!!!

Hope you enjoy this. But I would like to think that it is your hunger for more things kendo that brought you here, and not the Dragon Ninja photos I showed you...

And regarding the bogu thing, donīt worry, no pressure taken... :p

Well, thank you everyone, and Fukuryu, way to flame someone, LOL. You always knew to hit the precise spots.
And I bet there was no pressure taken on the bogu thing... just... thinking i wont be able to practise right, not be able to put on a bogu....

Any blame yet? LOL

Bienvenidos :-)

You guys all speak English so well, it puts my Spanish to shame. But then again, I'm a "dumb American" so just the fact that I recognize more than my own language is probably impressive to the rest of the world, anyway ;)

I wish my dojo also taught kendo (coming "soon" apparently), and I'd be there in a heartbeat if they did. If there were someone who looked like Dragon Ninja there, I'd be there in 0.000001 heartbeats. :-D

The dojo through which mine has AEUSKF/AUSKF affiliation is not too far away, but the timing of the classes and its location would have me fighting through rush hour traffic to get to it. I'd be so frustrated, I'd probably be denting titanium mengane and smashing through dou pretty quickly, so it'd be dangerous for my training partners. :D

Any time, Nicolás! It will be a great pleasure to have you here! And please, PLEASE, bring your naginata and an extra pair of sune... we would love to do some bamboo-whacking with that extra-long-kinda-shinai you use... :D
Plese check the website linked in my signature from time to time, it is our dojo web which is currently undergoing serious changes (the website...), all the relevant info will be found there. Or PM me, I will forward you the info.

Bienvenidos :-)

Thanks for the compliment, Corwyn, and donīt worry, Spanish is a tough languaje; it is easier for us native Spanish speakers to learn English that the other way around. Mail me if you want to practice your Spanish writing skills... :)

Feel your pain... We are very, VERY, EXTREMELY lucky to have kendo and iaido available here, and those through the initial effort of a few dedicate people, but my luck regarding MA ends there. No koryu of any kind, no naginata , no kyudo, no jodo... not yet, at least.

Muchas gracias. But I'm not sure that this is correct...Spanish is a fairly straightforward language, but you just have to keep track of the various verb conjugations and the irregular verbs. English is just a mess, being a mix of various other languages and all of their rules...

I didn't say anything naughty. She's just awfully cute...

I don't know of any naginata in MA, either (except the Kachimushi Naginata Club, but they're a college club...on their website, their president looks like Dragon Ninja, though...). And I don't think there's any Kyudo anywhere in this part of the US...at least nothing I could find in a Google search the other day.

Well, just think about the adjectives, which can be femenine or masculine, as well as the articles (not sure if I am right about the English meaning, in Spanish is "artículos", as "the", "that", etc.)...
That dog is pretty... Sure, but it is a male of female dog? Because in Spanish, you have to be more precise: "Esa perra es linda" or "Ese perro es lindo"... go figure...

I didn't say anything naughty. She's just awfully cute...

I know you didnīt say anything naughty... and indeed she is... :p

My mistake, MA as in Martial Arts, not your state (is it Maryland?). I was talking about the martial arts available here in Uruguay.

You'll be welcome at our dojo anytime you want. You'll get to see Uruguayan Kendo firsthand. We've got some pretty good kenshi (not me of course, I've just started not too long ago, but I'm trying to improve one step at a time :) )

And Daniel-san, I know you carry no blame whatsoever on your shoulders, I was just cheking, maybe we had some kind of planetary alignment recently that I wasnt aware of.

@ corwyn: I attach to both comments that Fukuryu said. Whenever you feel like practising Spanish, just write. I bet anyone here will be most willing to correct any mistakes or doubts you may have. And dont worry, our English, apart from being easier to learn for us, is the results of years of studying. At least for me, they've been almost 13 or so.
And yeah, we would love it if someone could bring and teach us Naginata, Kyudo, Jodo, etc, etc, etc. Didnt you want to learn Kusari-Gama too, Daniel-san? I want to.
(Maybe Dragon Ninja could come and teach us Naginata, Kyudo, etc? Won't hear any Uruguayan Kenshi complaining... well, maybe the female kendoka will)

So great nikozamo! We love visits! Please do PM or mail beforehand so we can prepare a warm welcome-keiko :)

And corwyn, I also agree with Fukuryu here, I believe it's a little easier to learn english than spanish. Maybe we can all chat together practicing different languages :P Anwyay, we all speak the same language: iaido :D

Of course I do! Thatīs why I would like to have some koryu around... and NO, "ninjutsu" is NOT an option.

Anwyay, we all speak the same language: iaido :D

Indeed! And a great language it is. Although, judging by Corwinīs photo, seems to me like he speaks it with a little MJER accent... :D
...not so different from our own accent, if any at all.

Yes, but only a little MJER accent. Tying my sageo on the left side and doing noto with ha upward is about the only MJER I know. We're still learning the Seitei kata, so we haven't gotten to the MJER kata yet.

I have to say hello to you but not to welcome you, as I'm newer than you here. So hi!

We're still learning the Seitei kata, so we haven't gotten to the MJER kata yet.

Yeah, I'm still learning the seiteigata but in spite of that I've seen the MJER katas... I have a long way to walk.

Don't worry, our accent (if any) is very very very tiny. And it will stay like that for a loooong long time =D

On a completely side note, my iaito has arrived, and I am very happy. Just wanted to share :P

Need pictures!! :D

Congratulations...it's an interesting transition from bokuto to iaito, or at least it was for me. Things I was doing right with bokuto suddenly went wrong when I switched, so I'm slightly relearning certain things.

Just remember not to stab yourself on noto. ;)

Heh...first time I tried to do noto with my iaito, I was used to my bokuto (a couple of inches longer), and I pushed out a bit too far, so the kissaki fell into the koiguchi and then back out again, stabbing me in the index finger. Having learned quickly from that painful error, I haven't done it again.

Ohh, yes, I should take some pictures of it.
And I agree the transition is very different. Balance, weight...lot's of things. I believe the experience is much nicer with iaito, but more difficult.

And as you warn me, yes, I know the iaito won't forgive my mistakes. For now I haven't (yet) stab myself with noto. Just some little "ouch!" :D

Indeed you are. But know that my iaito is willing to take your blood too!!

(Before everyone thinks we're retards, we had a little accident with Fukuryu here where he "accidentaly" stab my hand with his iaito....shinsa day!. Soy I had to take my exam with one bloody hand :P )

I will post some pictures of the iaito. For now I only wish I was trianing with it! Aaahhhhhh!!!!
