Has anyone ever ordered a shinai from Eguchi because I wanted to know if they came pre sanded and oiled. I think I read somewhere that they do , but I wanted to make sure.

I ordered two of their cheapo shinai... I don't remember them being sanded in advance. I certainly remember that they were not oiled though. Good quality I thought, I seem to remember liking the balance on the cheap ones.

The shinai I ordered was an Aun shinai

I don't understand many people in this forum. What is the matter if the shinai coming pre treat or not? You don't check your shinai at all and will blame some one if your shinai break? When the shinai come, check to see it needs to sand or not, oil it anyway. I know many people don't give the rat ass if it is presand or preoil at all. I don't leave my safety and other's safety to someone else hands except me. Grown up.

I'm not good at choosing shinai. But I will definitely maintain my shinai just the way some people maintain their cars. I will always check on them and will sand and oil them once a while. By the way, what is the difference between Eguchi and Aun? I do notice that there are many names/brand for shinai, but I never able to understand them.
