my mrs rang me today to ask the above question... I blew it and said Smarties, when I actually should have said "BOTH of course..."

So it occurs to me to ask you all....

"What is the best Easter egg this year?"

Why do i get the distinct impression that we are talking about some sort of English food product?

Oh..I know.

The names.

:D

I voted smarties because I recognized that name as a type of candy. Didn't know they made easter eggs though! :)

To those of us on this side of the pond, Smarties are a vaguely fruit-flavored sugar candy. I think Smarties over there are more like M&Ms...or at least are mostly chocolate. But other than that...I have no idea.

Oh..ok...
I get it now:

Smarties: Big strange M&M looking things...
Buttons: Um..Standard issue Candy Buttons?
Cream Egg thing?: Cant be this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadbury's_Creme_Egg)..You said it had no cream..
Maltossers: We call those things Whoppers in the U.S.

I'd have to say for myself, I'm partial to the Peeps (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peeps).

Hm, Milka (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milka_%28Marke%29) isn't on the list...

They make really nice easter eggs (http://www.kraftfoods.at/kraft/images/atde1/pictures/milka_loeffelei_72dpi.jpg); they are filled with milky cream... Man, that tastes good...

Oh, the best easter egg in games was that trick which made Lara Croft completely nude in Tomb Raider... Game designers think of everything.

All right, let's get this straight:
Germans don't get to vote on the deliciousness of Easter Candy,.... or any food for that matter.
That right was withdrawn the moment one of your countrymen came up with Cheeseburger in a can (http://gizmodo.com/351304/cheeseburger-in-a-can-reviewed).

Finding out the creme egg one was hollow has to rank among life's major disappointments...

Americans lecturing us on candy?!

Candy is not what we are talking about, we are talking about sweeties. Your peculiar weird chocolate associated with that wooden roller coaster place nullifies all votes from the USA.

Malteasers get my vote.
I'm not allowed smarties... they make me a bit nuts.
Buttons are just girly, semi-frozen Yorkies for the man-challenge.

And mr potato; get over it! Even you on the muchies couldn't get through that much fondant filling. How would you even eat it? Double dipping is not allowed....

Not really, they are huge nerds who hardly ever score.

Ugh!, creme eggs always make me retch....

If I had my pick I would say none of the above, just an After Eight dark chocolate easter egg (only downside is that you won't sleep for days with the chocolate rush).

Cheeseburger in a can?!. Someone give the inventor a nobel price please!.

Mmhhhh....cheeseburger easter egg, even better.

Mmmmm, dark chocolate!

I went to college at Bournville (the location of Cadbury's biggest choc factory in the UK) and we had to walk down a public path through the factory site twice a day between the train station and the college. The first few days were great, but after a few weeks, you get sick of the smell of chocolate!

you get sick of the smell of chocolate
:confused:WHAT!!! NEVER!!!!! Heretic, burn him! Thats like going to a brewery and not liking the smell of beer!

I always thought you were a bit twisted... now I know for sure....

I am having a split vote on the Maltesers egg... they are now putting bits of malteser in the shell to make it crunchy... definitely better for it.... however I now realise I left Crunchie off the list as well....

The creme eggs come in boxes of 12 now! what a good idea that was! I also was gutted when the giant creme egg wasn't filled with creme....

I do have a complaint about the chunky KitKats egg however... why is there only one finger of biscuit when the normal ones have four? A chunky 4 finger kitkat? Now you're talking!:ko:

hehe. most excellent topic
im not keen on easter egg chocolate as its too cheaply made

i still like the small buttons ones though
smarties dont taste right anymore since they took out all those good e numbers
as an alternative to creme eggs, i seem to get hooked on those little mars eggs each year
:p

I hate to say it, but Cadbury makes the best easter candy around - the Cadbury Caramel Egg (http://www.hersheys.com/products/details/cadbury.asp?id=000000011136-000000011136) (made by Hershey's in the US). I don't know if it's just a States thing, but I do know it's good. I usually wait until just after easter and get a carpload for half price. Delicious. I'm drooling just thinking about it. It's filled with caramel. Nothing has as much caramel in it as this thing does. It's amazing.
