I am new to Kendo and I was wondering if important Kendo tournaments are televised in Japan, Korea, and or any other country? Also I would like to know what Kendo video/s you recommend? I notice that most of the Kendo equipment stores sale videos that have very poor production quality.

Thanks in advance

Yeah, NHK broadcast the main Kendo tournament. Here in Brazil we can view NHK on cable tv.

On E-bogu you will find some videos and DVD, they got the entire WKC on DVD, good quality... http://www.e-bogu.com

When can I get a listing of tournament times as well as when they'll be broadcasted? I'd love to watch them, but I'm out of touch with the kendo world right now, though I still get TV Japan (which broadcasts a bunch of things from NHK).

I'd like to know too. If tournaments are broadcasted enough, maybe I'll order the channel. I see it listed on my digital cable menu, and I really like watching high level kendo action.

They already broudcasted the All Japan Tourny.... I think they next event they may broadcast would be the Kyoto taikai. There are usually websites for the local providers with a schedule. Or you could go to the NHK homepage.

I just got the E-Bogu WKC men's individuals video and it is great to watch some good Kendo. I think that the production quality of the video is extremely amateur and poor. I know college students that would do a better job shooting Kendo. The price of the video is a bit high for the quality, in regards to the amount of Kendo that contains is okay. I would love to get my hands on some good quality stuff with different angles and great replays as well as better video quality. I believe that people would spend even a little more money for better quality. UHMMM! I should produce the next WKC...

Maybe we can petition ESPN to air kendo. I've seen sumo on ESPN2 so maybe they'd go for it if sufficient interest can be demonstrated.
