Will this year's All Japan Champion be World Champion?

Just a speculative question.

Also interesting is the question of Japan will be world champion again. Canada got close to beating them last time.

Of course, this could just be a ploy to bring attention to my old thread trying to organize a kendo-world group to go to the All Japan Championships.

Also wanted to lighten the mood considering the shinai selection and zekken threads.

Well, I fancy winning the individuals next year ...... (I voted NO)

Seriously - if any kendo world person is in or around Scotland at the time of the event (or whenever actually) then please contact myself for keiko and beer information !! I wont be there immedietly prior to the WKC12 as we are going to a secret ninja training camp in the highlands ... afterwards I am expecting a few international folk in Edinburgh for keiko.

Cheers,

I answered no, I hope some non japanese make it to the final this time.. Suguru Asaoka? (name is japanese but the dude is canadian)

As for the All japanese competition...I hope Satou Mitsunobu wins!!

I went to the canadian championship this year in vancouver and saw all these amazing kenshi. I think we have a really strong team ! But our team is again all of CanadoJapanese (sorry for the spelling) except for Mathew Raymond (nitouryu dude). I hope this will be a bit different for 2006 team canada selection. Which would mean that not only children of japanese sensei can get good enough in kendo.

Anyway Go Team Canada go!

That's a tricky question.... I'm expecting some runner-ups from the AJ Championship to be the WKC Champion. Non-Japanese in the finals? Yeah, Koreans! Now AJKF is having their 50th Anniversary AJ Champsionship on the 2 & 3 of Nov... So we'll wait and see....

Hey, who's mad enough to get to Glasgow and watch?? I probably will (hey it's in the same country)... Are they selling black market tickets already? I'll sneak around at the backstage and ask for people's autograph... HAHAHA :D

Since there're around 200 registered members in this forum (and still growing!), and if George is organizing a Keiko-kai, Come!

Expecting the Kendo World crews to be there reporting the whole thing!

I will go if I have money to do so.

My main goal is to go to the AJKC in November. I will be in country, so I might just take the weekend and go. If I can keep a decent budget and not spend my entire months budget I should get by alright. Food and Capsule hotels here I come.

We've got a table booked at the venue, and our bogu and cameras packed by the door waiting.

We'll see you there!!

I'm organizing the trip to Scotland for a bunch of folks from my dojo -- we'll probably go for the week, really.

Do people know the process of signing up for the shinsa?

Hmm... I watched Iwasa Sensei do some Keiko at the Detroit Renshi tournament earlier this year, and I have the tape of the last championships- very impressive! still- I imagine competition will be is extremely tough, so I'd place my money on someone else taking it-

and oh ya...go team Canada!
