???Naginata style kote for kendo???

I am the lone male naginataka here at the shubukan in Japan. The other day when I was changing out of my gi upstairs in the mens locker room(with all the kendo gear) I noticed an extremely nice pair of (what looked like) naginata kote. I have never seen all blue, extremely well stitched/padded naginata kote like these before. So I was wondering if naginata style kote (with the seperate index finger) for kendo are available?

Those kote are either mine, as I have my kendo and naginata gear there, or they are a pair of fingered kendo kote which were experimented with a few years ago. You will rarely see them now as they were deemed too dangerous to use in kendo. It was thought that they would enhance te-no-uchi, but it turned out that many people were getting injured fingers when they crashed into their opponent for tai-atari.

- Yeah I have been practicing there for the past 3 months. Nakano sensei was sorry she didn't get to see you at last weeks shingetsukai taikai. I couldn't use a flash but if I have any good photos I'd be more than happy to send you a copy.

- They were hanging out to dry so I guess maybe they are the latter.

- Interesting, I can only imagine. I know how painfull getting your hands crushed in regular kendo kote can be.

Sometimes I forget to bring my kendo kote to practice so I wear my naginata kote. I must say it hurts a lot more being hit on the fingers with the naginata kote compared to the kendo kote. They feel a lot nicer to wear but I wouldnt recommend wearing them with kendo.
