Hi folks! Any adults out there using the musashi keikogi as a summer weight gi? I'm thinking about it, but the whole "it's only for kids" thing has me re-thinking it.

If you are tall like me, even the bigger ones have really short sleeve.
I'd totally wear one if I could find my size.

I have a sempai who wears a blue one. My wife occasionally wears a blue one as well.

Thanks but I live near E-bogu's warehouse and I tried all the sizes they have.
Sadly, none of them fit.
I wonder if E-bogu's is meant for Naginata folks?
The sleeves are wicked short on all sizes.

So it doesn't fit like it does in the pictures on the site?

Did you live in Boston at any time?
Also bugoshop.com has both the blue and white versions. Their keikogi also fit tall people a little better at 6-5 the 5L fits very well.

Yup. Check it out (though I'm almost positive neither my sempai or my wife got from Chiba):

You live in Nova Scotia, you have no qualifications for this discussion.
Your record high temperatures (http://www.destination-ns.com/content/weatherhistory.asp) would be sweet relief to many of us on most summer days. Your averages for July and August (http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/businesstraveler/wxclimatology/monthly/graph/CAXX0183?from=36hr_bottomnav_business) match ours for February and March (http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/businesstraveler/wxclimatology/monthly/graph/USCA1114?from=36hr_bottomnav_business) (check the "record high" box to see where the real fun is).
I sweat puddles bigger than you.

Unfortunately for people my size, nothing seems to fit like it does in the catalogs.

Since your asking for opinions, adults wearing them look like total tools. (remember, that is my opinion).

I've seen other summer gi or gi made out of lightweight synethetic or jersey like materials. Does it have to be a musashi keikogi? Personally I don't think it is a major big deal But it looks kind of weird on an adult maybe the blue one will be less weird. Not as weird if the person is just starting kendo or is female. If you are an older guy wearing a musashi keikogi unless you are Musashi himself you will probably get a laugh or two. Sweat is good for you but so is laughter.

Laughing gives a boost to the immune system, lifts our spirits and leads to a greater sense of well-being.
Regular laughing is good exercise as it encourages deep breathing which is known to improve lymphatic drainage, the removal of toxins from the body, and to relax muscles.
Anyone can do it, regardless of age or physical ability

i bought the blue one for the laughs (it was veeery cheap!). but even the blue one is too flashy for my taste. so i died it very dark blue navy almost black. it's actually very lightweight and perfect for the summer. now we're talking :D lol. looking forward this one special gasshuku this month where it'll make its grand debut, hehehe :D

I have a "kid gi". I didn't know what it meant when i first bought it, i just bought it because it was the cheapest one. I guess i can still pull it off because i am 17?
Like paburo said maybe you can dye it another color? Wouldn't your kote hid your arms?
