Changing quotation system and avatar settings

To save vertical space in the discussion threads, I propose these changes: removing new lines in the quote and cropping long posts with a [...] between, for an example, the first and last three lines. If there are over, for an example, twenty posts between the post being quoted and the quotation, there exists a logical reason for the whole post being quoted to be included in the quotation. If the quotation occurs directly after the post being quoted, vertical space is wasted with repetition.
Criticism?

Secondly, can an option to turn off displaying avatars be included in the user preferences? Those animated ones can get annoying.

Hahaha. I found the avatar setting. Forget the quotation remark. Asking vBulletin to be modified is idiotic.
