View Full Version : New Bogu
Hello to all kendo mates!! I changed my bogu, I had a 5mm "e-bogu" Bogu and now I have a S-22 from "Bogubag". The diference between this to is huge. So, I need to know if any of you have this Bogu and know if it needs any special care.
Thank´s

Drool isn't too helpful to him.
Nothing special, treat it like any other bogu - dry it away from direct heat (don't leave it in the bogu bag), smooth out the kote palms after use, wipe away any excess sweat with a towel, inspect for damage from time to time. Enjoy, it's a nice set that should last you a long time.

Hi Deco,
I'm also from Brazil and I've recently bought a 4/2mm bogu from e-bogu. I got it from their representative here: www.e-bogu.com.br.
This bogu you got from "Bogubag", did you get through a representative in Brazil or did you order it directly from their US site? Did you have any problems with customs officials, taxes, etc.?
Do you know of any other sources of Kendo equipment from within Brazil?
Thanks,
Gus

man.. that's a really nice bogu.
i'm kinda pissed, though... because the ~US$1100 I spent for my 4mm some 5 years ago could probably be had today for around $600.
the .jpeg of the S-22 (here's the pic: http://www.bogubag.com/Bogu/Machine_3mm/S22_L.jpg ) looks VERY similar to one of the top-of-the-line bogu offered by Tozando that were going for around $3000 (if I recall correctly)..
...maybe I need to look into selling my bogu to one of the new guys in class and upgrading myself!
One of the funniest things I ever heard was from (I think it was Lewis Murphy at Shidogakuin in Miami) who, after getting so many compliments on his new bogu, remarked something like:
"Awww, heck.. Y'know what they say? Dress like a Go-dan, fight like an ikkyu!"
Thank´s for the help guys!! I appreciate it very much!!
The point of my post was to know if that especific Bogu need any especial treatment, becose i never seen of notice a bogu with a quality like that.
But now, after some days of pratice i notice that the do is doing a little damage in the midle of my tare. I´m affraid it can get bigger.
What should i do?
Thank´s again!! :D

it's kind of odd that the dou would be doing any damage to the tare so soon.
i dunno... maybe tie your dou *slightly* higher?
is the damage to the VERY top of the tare? or is it at the top of the center flap? ... if it's at the VERY TOP of the tare, then tie your dou a little lower... if it's at the top of the center flap, tie your dou a little higher...
i guess that might fix the problem...?
