Following up on the original "Possibly Worst Kendo Ever" thread featuring Kum Sung Martial Arts of Nashville, I stumbled across this today...

This is from what I believe is the Kum Sung Martial Arts "National" tournament (all Kum Sung schools) that was held in New Jersey on May 3-4, 2008.

No words to describe, but I'm grateful that I was able to find real kendo in Memphis...

What a joke:

CAVEAT: It's POSSIBLE this is not from Kum Sung Martial Arts.. I'm just taking a wild guess. This is at least what the Nashville school's "stick fighting" used to look like.

Looked perfectly ok to me.
Why?
What's wrong with it?

Correction... ok... this is definitely not Kum Sung Martial Arts footage....

Huh.
I thought that looked great.
Superb in fact!
The form was perfect, and it was beautiful to watch.
My eyes are filled with tears at the joy this has given me.
There's hope for me yet.

Question: Is it part of the Kendo spirit to post videos/links of another martial arts or Kendokas in an attempt to belittle them?
I sure hope our intention is more constructive in that we look at these videos to learn its the deficiencies and strengths in order that we improve our own Kendo.

Yes.

Says so in the USKF Charter.
Line 56, sub-paragraph N.

(N.) When a Ninjery is committed against a Kendo person or a You-Tube viewer engaged in the performance of his or her goofing off,
whether on or off duty, including when the KW forumite is in a Bogu uniform and is concurrently performing the duties required of him or her as a shimpan while also employed in a private parts capacity as a part-time or casual gamer
security guard or troller, or a nonsworn employee of a masturbation
department engaged in the performance of his or her duties, whether
on or off duty, or a porno nurse engaged in rendering
emergency sexual care outside a cheap hotel, clinic, or other seedy
facility, and the person committing the Ninjery offense knows or
reasonably should know that the victim has eyes which may be blinded from watching said video, the offense of Ninjery is
punishable by a fine not exceeding two trillillion thousand dollars ($2,0000000000000000000), or
by imprisonment in a local Anime Convention not exceeding one year, or by both that fine and imprisonment or summary execution by Tameshigiri.

.

Yes, yes it is.

If this was supposedly kumdo, being Korean an all, why were they going into sonkyo? The rest of the video...my only other question is, why?

Points coming your way, Tango. Damn! It won't let me...I owe you.

I love how they had to move the tropheys out of the way.

In answer to do we have to belittle ninjery. Yes. If someone calls an apple an orange do you call them stupid in your mind? Of course. We're just doing the same thing.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who caught that.
Only I saw it as:

No trophies for you.

The shinpan flags were cute. I want a set to use at our next club or federation event. Wonder if I could induce a seizure in one of the senior humor impaired sensei.

Saw flags like that at a tournament when my daughter was doing TKD. Maybe it's a Korean thing.

I am confused.... what is wrong with white and red flags? Korea has those colours in the flag, so I cant see why you would need to change them...

Koreans didn't want to exactly follow Japanese tradition(Red/White deal), and until early 90's, red was considered as the color of communism. And you didn't want to be considered as the supporter of the comm. group in S. Korea.
