Not sure how far away Springfield, MO, is to me... but I'm in Fayetteville, AR. Though soon, I will be moving to Little Rock, AR. I might be the closest to ya... give me a yell if you want to talk more. I believe there is also a group in Oklahoma City, OK, and Memphis, TN. I'm not sure about any groups farther north though.

I'm sure you've already checked the AUSKF website for dojo listings?

Raptor, I'm in Springfield and would love to start learning Kendo. Have you had any luck finding a dojo here in town?

I would think there would be enough of an intrest to get a club start here. What do you think? Heck if nothing else maybe we could just carpool to St. Louis.

searching.

Man, I lived in Korea for 2 years and studied Gumdo (Korean Kendo) and I am dying to get back into it. Are there any teachers in or around Springfield?

Hi!

Well, I just looked all over but couldn't find any legitimate kumdo dojangs anywhere in your state or the surrounding states. Here, you have to be careful because we do have a lot of McDojo(fake) versions of Kumdo.

But, you have kendo(Same thing as Kumdo if legit.) available in Kansas City, which is the closest, at 150 miles away, St. Louis, Missouri at 200 miles away and Little Rock, Arkansas, which is about the same distance from Springfield as St. Louis is. That means getting to the first dojo in Kansas City, depending on which route you took and the traffic, would take you approx. 2 1/2 hrs to 3 hours give or take, and the last two dojos would take you about 3-4 hours give or take. I used a map to work this all out.

I used this map. It has a distance legend at the bottom LH corner:

http://www.sitesatlas.com/Maps/Maps/MO1.htm

I used the first map listed. I also used the site for a map of Arkansas. I tried Oklahoma, but the dojo was way too far to post for you. I'm talking like a 4-6 hour drive. I'd only post that if nothing else was available.

These are the only legitimate AUSKF(All US Kendo Federation) sanctioned dojos close to you. So, you have to take what you can get, even if you have to drive. My dojo is 2 1/2 hours away, so I won't feel sorry for you. :) I'll just tell you to go, even if you can only make it once a month.

I'm too tired to post them individually for you(I usually will do this, but it is very late right now. I don't feel like cutting and pasting dojos.), so I'll give you the site on which you can find them.

Please go here:

http://www.auskf.info/dojo/xindex.htm

Click on each state's abbreviation to find each dojo I mentioned.

Please call the dojos in advance before showing up so they know you want to visit.

I hope this helps! :)
