In 2005 Aichi prefecture in Japan held the Worlds Exposition Fair. There is blurb about it here:

The ZNKR held a “kendo festival” on one of the days and apparently they had a bunch of foreign kenshi demonstrate. Did anyone here attend this or know about this? I ask because I was wondering how many non-Japanese participated, what nationalities were represented, were they all living in Japan or did they bring people over from abroad, where these people beginners, how were they selected, etc????
I don’t expect to find here but if anyone here has any information please share.

There were at least 2 teams of foreign kendoka there and perhaps more. I know several KW staff members and contributors were there. Wish I could say I was - I was just about to move out to Aichi at that time but missed it.

I'd imagine the KW people who were there have photos and perhaps even video from it.

Michael Komoto and I organised the thing. Two teams of foreign kenshi 3-dan and above fought a friedship match. I have the program somewhere at home. If you are interested the AJKF produced a commemorative book which I think you can buy from them???? Check out their HP goods.
