I have lived in the Osaka region for 4 years and have my life at a decent spot. I would like to find a dojo anywhere between Kobe and Osaka that I could attend once a week (hopefully in the time between Sunday afternoon and Tuesday night).

I am 37 and a novice. I have two friends doing Iaido, but the time is not good for me and I was thinking of doing another art like kendo.

Any leads would be appreciated.
Thanks

There is a place I used to join sundays from 9:00 to 12:00 about 10 Minutes walk from Nishimoniya kitaguchi eki. If that is nothing for you I can also ask one of the sensei there if he can help you with another club.
Well, and ofcourse takarazuka is also close by.

Okay, maybe it is near Hiro Coffee shop in Takagi-cho? My wife said there was one out here near Kita-guchi.

I also am not sure about PMing on this site xVikingx. Do I need to add info?

It would be a blast to be outfitted and participating by October.

Not too far away from takagi-cho, but on the other side of the hankyu railway in kawarabayashi-cho.
I guess she was talking about another club, which is very likely to be there. It is Japan after all.

THe one by Hiro coffee is really more child orientated. There are adults there but you might be better off with a place that has more experience teaching adult beginners.

I don't understand. By not sure do you mean you don't know how to use PM? If you look at the top right corner under where it says "Welcome LFTexan" there should be a link that reads "private message" click that and you should have at least one in there from me. Reply to my PM or email me at the address I gave you and I will be more than happy to help you find a place.

Are you looking to do kendo or something else? Do you have any experience other than TKD or are you a complete beginner? How is your Japanese? If you can answer these it will make it easier for me to find a place that suits you.

I started last Wednesday in Nishinomiya. I am very happy with learning Kendo. 1 day a week with 2 days a week mixed in when available. Good stuff.

Thanks all.

I'm glad you found a place to practice. Where are you at? The Ashiya place didn't work out?

We called there and they were very friendly, but I talked my boss into switching my schedule around a bit. So I can do the one next to Hiro Coffee in Nishinomiya on Wednesday nights, and Sundays from time-to-time. Then I can get home for a hot dinner.

Get my Shinai Wednesday. I think they told me I can't bring it, and I have to use the schools Shinai. Just to use at home. Do any of you carry yours to practice?

I think it's a little odd that they would tell you not to bring your own shinai. Perhaps you misunderstood. Maybe they were saying you could use the school's for a while before getting your own?

Yes that was it.

Nice to have my shinai now. Learning and learning...

try here for iaido...http://www.151a.net/iai/intro.html. Nishimoto sensei is based in Shukugawa, but has 3 dojo in the general area which run on various nights. The useful part is that he speaks reasonable English, and... Ryan, a guy from Preston, UK is there regularly! I usually stay with him on my trips over, excellent instructor for MJER iai.
