You know, where you do the men, get up close, then do the 45-degree angle mens (what are those called, anyways?) 9-10 times, then do the running mens past the opponent then end in kamae? Well, I had to do that last night with the highest-ranking sensei at my dojo. He is either a 6th or 7th dan, and to the best of my knowledge, he looks to be about 60. Most of the time he gives off am impression that he is a little feeble, part of it being that he stutters quite often. Well, last night, when we were doing this exercise, I wasn't hitting him hard enough, so then I got the surprise of my lifetime, as he just began screaming fiercely, "Hit me harder! HARDER!" also hitting right under the side of my do if I wasn't doing the men properly where he saw an opening. After, I felt quite humbled, also because this was my first time doing this. Do you guys have any senseis like mine?

You'll find out that most old and feeble looking people who do kendo are quite the opposite. In my previous dojo there was a 80 yr old Hachidan who would do the drills with us...and believe me he went through the repertoire without resting, while many of the other students had to pause a beat to catch their breath.

First of all it is called " kiri-kaeshi'
...very basic but important drill in kendo.
So know it, learn it and live it! :silly:

The standard kirikaeshi sequence is one big sho-men, a taiatari (body crush), four sayu-men with forward footwork, five sayu-men with backward footwork, and two sho-men.
As for having senseis like yours? Were you asking about the fact that he seems feeble but isn't during keiko? Or were you asking about him pushing you during the kirikaeshi? The chief instructor at my dojo is in his late seventies but is still very vigorous. The way he explained it one night is that you practice kendo with large, correct movements in your youth to develop kokoro, that will help you do right kendo when you are older and your body isn't as it was.
