Suburi Shinai

[Bokuto no Ryu]

As mentioned before, I'm a newbie at kendo. What I'd like to know is what are the advantages of using a suburi shinai during training. Should I invest in one? Thanks for your time and patience.

If you have not done so already, ask your instructor first. S/he is your best guide in these matters with respect to Kendo, especially as a newbie.

i would say suburi shinai's are for suburis... not exactly for an all round training device... but ask your sensei anyway, he'll probably say you dont need one so early in kendo...
