There are so many things to love about Kendo, but if pushed, what would you say your favourite thing about it would be?

THE WOMEN OF KENDO.
That is all.
(For you Political Correctness Police out there: I'm kidding, of course)

Having a passion and sharing it with others.
(different from cklin's comment!)
You know ... spending all your money on something wierd ... traveling all over the world ... moaning about that damn bogu bag.... beers after keiko ... having a 2 hour conversation about gyaku-do ... etc etc etc

One other aspect is strategy. At times (when you are not playing someone too strong), you can plan out your hits, set stuff up, etc...

I interpreted it as humbleness but my Japanese is very weak so would not surprise me if I am wrong,
My Ex tried to teach me for 5 years, I can only remember words
Best not said in here, that should give you an idea how bad my Japanese is

Well, I actually, women in kendo, some of them really look damn cute ....... (but very distracting to kendo, so trying not to look at all) .....

If someone ever had the nerve to call me cute, I'd step on their foot. Cute is for Hello kitty, and Pikachu. (Note: Doraemon is not cute, he's cool. Anyone who has a time machine and a dokodemo door is automatically a hip cat. pun intended)
ah it wouldn't matter if you looked anyway, i suspect they're mostly busy doing kendou, not oggling the men. (not that i'm an expert, since i'm not the 'o, what a nice arse' at the mall knd of girl anyway.)

Especially when you are trying to control your ego, i can imagine for most of the blokes here that when they see a really cute looking chick, and they then want to show off their pathetic skills, and then make a complete arse of themselves because they are not focused enough...I think the only solution is to ban all women from kendo, and send them off to the kitchens, it is the only way that we will be able to focus better....hehehehe, so what do ya think about that Confound, good or Bad idea? :D :D :D

I think you're just baiting me, that's what I think.
But if you're not, and since I know you're not any better than me, I'll kick your lousy arse.
Seriously though: Generally I don't like other women, I get along much better with men. However, the women i've met in kendou, even in Japan, are the most sensible, practical women i've met. In fact, the women of kendou in japan are the ones who give me a little bit of hope that not everyone is a giggling goofball with a keitai stuck to her ear.
I don't know about other countries, but in Japan, I'd like to see more women involved in kendou. it teaches assertiveness, but not brash egoism, and it allows women who ordinarily would be pushed into very strict gender roles, to branch out and experiment with a different kind of identity. It works wonders.
Really, the most interesting women i've met in this country are the ones who are involved in traditional arts of any kind. They're literate, smart, funny and they don't giggle (or at least they only giggle at something that is actually funny).

Just by-the-by, not everyone uses the term "cute" in that way. Traditional "cute" is, indeed yuk, but as someone who runs away from women in floral-print dresses I have still been known to apply the term to mean "sexy-cool" in the right context. So Confound, you may well be cute, but not in a cutesy way.
What was this thread about again....? :D

If I'm ever cute, drag me out in a field and put a bullet in my head. I'd rather be one of the guys that a chick, no matter how 'hot' she is, she's still an object.

So you'd rather be dead than considered attractive? Interesting... maybe some people out there already find you cute - is this so terrible, or is this just another part of the Confound mythos....?

All those people who found me cute... note the verb is in the past? They're pushing daisies. Ok, so I'm kidding.
There's a Confound Mythos? Impressive. How long until I become a cult anti-hero?

My true identity is finally revealed. I'm a nasty futuristic robot. Now why'd you have to get so mad? Killer robots like kendou too you know. As a representative of all killer robots from the 24th century, I'd like to point out that we can be perfectly rational and not at all bloodthirsty on occasions like Christmas, Easter and even the occasional Hanukkah.
</bad joke>

heh, its scary...I'm doing a Journalism Information Age course and my tutor goes.."Meng you are born on the 5th of April, right? Do you know how I know that?"
I was like, uh, student records? And he goes, nope and displays a webpage he looked up on Yahoo from my old Uni...scary. A bit of us floats on the web...
PS. I think this thread is going way off the deep end.

Hey Meng, you like eating mabo tofu! you know how I know that? You told me!
Ah, and about that killer robot stuff, well, i'm sad to admit i'm not a robot. I'm just a corset wearing kendouka. Not very exciting now is it. Sorry about that little mix up.
