Hi everyone. I'm Walter.

I have been training various Martial Arts since I was 14. I will be 28 on January 2, 2004. Currently for the past 8 years I have been training mostly Chinese Martial Arts like Long Fist, Praying Mantis, and White Crane. Had trained Kempo Karate and Tae Kwon Do previously in my teen years. And exposure to different Martial Arts growing up meeting other Martial Artists of various styles from tournaments, or seminars and friends. Trained with weapons like Staff, Straightsword, Broadsword, Chinese Spear, Butterfly Knives, Nunchakus. I am looking to pursue training in Japanese sword arts now in addition to my current training. I'm particularly interested in Kenjutsu. I have been experimenting on my own with my Bokken and Katana on cutting techniques for the past few years. But I really would like proper instruction. I've just been having a difficult time finding a school or a teacher of this style in Boston, Massachusetts. But I will settle for training in Iaido. And then Kendo if I can't find a school that can fit my schedule. I see there is Boston Iaido. But classes that are close to Boston conflict with my current schedule. I hope to find a school or teacher that can teach me on weekends. Can anyone recommend me find a good Japanese sword style school in Boston? In regards to my Katana, I have been just practicing a couple cuts just listening to the air to see if I am cutting straight. I listen for a whisp sound and determine that I had cut straight and correct and if it's a thick woosh sound I determine that the cut is off. Would this be right? And a friend who used to train in Kendo taught me how he had learned to draw blade and sheathed it so I have been practicing that as well. Thanks in advance for any advice, suggestions and help.

I'm still studying Long Fist, Praying Mantis and White Crane and it's weapons for the past 8 years. After 8 years, although I have progressed, there is still so much more depth that I'm still pursuing in these arts.

I've had interest in Japanese sword arts for the past 6 years. But I have obligation to be at my school Mon-Fri nights after work as a student teacher so it makes it difficult for me to attend any Japanese sword art school/classes during the week as most Kendo classes I find are only available during the week. Weekends I've no obligations so I hope to find a teacher of Kendo to train with. So far I have found no available classes in any Japanese sword art on the weekends. I thought I did find a Saturday class available in town near me, but the class seems to be nonexistant now. I don't want to stop my Mon-Fri current Martial Arts training as I have a passion for what I do. It seems I may have to arrange something with a teacher for private sessions. But actually one of my classmates at my school used to train Kendo. Perhaps I'll ask him to teach me the basics and begin there. And if I still want to, I'll search out a teacher and pay for complete training. What do you suggest? Do you know of any weekend classes of Japanese sword in Boston?

Sweet man! I've been doing martial arts for about 5 years now( I dont like giving my age, people seem to critisize you by it nowadays) I just started studing Kendo about a couple of weeks ago. I have studied Tae-kwon-do, kenpo, a little bit of ninjutsu(or taijitsu), and mostly Jujitsu. Martial arts to me is my life, rather then a study :)

Study any bizare kind of martial art...??(If there is a such thing)
