"Traditional Kendo"

(Not sure if this belongs here or not, but figured I'd give it a shot.)

So I stumbled across this Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traditional_Kendo), and something just doesn't sit right with me. The whole article just seems horribly suspect to me. While I don't know nearly enough about Kendo's history to dispute any of the information on the page, the thing reads like it was written for a McDojo that's trying to distance themselves from the proper art. The fact that all of the references and citations are from hard-print thesis and articles and such doesn't help either.

Plus, there's the guy who wrote it. His comments on the Discussion page and on his Talk page give me the impression of a back-yard ninjer. He continuously dodges totally valid questions by telling people that they need to read more "literature," and pretty much treats any edits to the page as "vandalism" or some such garbage and reverts them back to the original form.

looking at the list of his references, he might as well have just said "read don draeger's book"...

That guy is hillarious, his english vocabulary is pretty limited, i guess that's why he insists on saying " it's not me, it the literature", "talk to the literature ok" :alien:

I didn't read the article enough to see what your talking about but if you have issues with that entry fix them or delete the whole thing. That's the beauty of wiki.

The problem, I'm assuming, is that if you go to change anything, the "main guy" keeps changing everything back to the original... he apparently would have nothing else better to do with his life than make sure that his wiki article stays as he originally wrote it ...

All of that's just a guess on my part.

It has been verified by the current soke that what they are doing isn't Kogen Itto Ryu. If I recall currently, one of the Kogen Itto Ryu Soke's family member is actually an instructor of kendo in the SCKF.

Er, sorry, but I don't understand how those links directly relate to the Wikipedia article. I understand that the situations are similar, but I fail to see the direct relationship between the two.

In retrospect, I did assume that the author of the wiki page had something to do with the International Classical Kendo Federation.

Perhaps that assumption is unwarranted...and I'll just leave that there :D

The wikipedia article appears similar to the Danish Traditional Kendo Federation (http://www.kendo-dk.org/) website.
