I cant seem to find anywhere that i can learn kendo in my whole state, much less close to me. I live in Greensboro, so if anyone knows of a place closeby let me know. Austin

Hi!
Go to the URL of the All US Kendo Federation:
http://www.auskf.info/mainpages/schools.htm#CO
Hope that helps!

Thank you, but the only places I can find are in Raleigh or Charlotte, both are more than an hour away.

Well there ya go. You've gone from "none in the whole state" to two!!.
Anyway, yes, those are the only two I can think of in NC that are part of the AUSKF/SEUSKF.
Maybe you are closer to Knoxville, TN? Maeda-sensei (7.dan) has a class at a Japanese boarding school (Tennessee Meiji Gaikuin) just south of K'ville in Sweetwater, TN.
Then you've got the Citadel in South Carolina. How close are you to Charleston?
Is Raleigh or Charlotte looking any closer yet?

Hi again,
You're welcome.
Regarding the distance, well, that's just how it is sometimes. If you are serious about it, then you will drive the distance. My dojo is 2 1/2 hours away, and that's just the drive to my dojo. If the two you found in the link I put up are a bit more than that, maybe you can go even at least once a month. A sensei will not mind you coming twice or even once a month, if you are willing to put in the at home practice time in between class practice. I go twice a month, because the drive takes all day, and it is my Mom who drives me. I feel lucky to be able to go at least twice a month.
By the way, I knew there were only two in your state... But, I thought you should know about the AUSKF site. It's an important one. :)
Also, where exactly are you in North Carolina? Like Tango said, a dojo in a neighboring state may be near you, as well. But, since North Carolina is not that big of a state, you ought to be able to drive to at least one of the dojos I posted. So, tell us what part of the state you are in, and maybe there will be another option. If not, I suggest you drive to at least one of the dojos listed that you found, ok? :)

We actually have members that come in from greensboro area (and beyond). If you want to see about carpooling with them - drop me an e-mail mquinn@quinnconsulting.com. You can see our website (not nearly as nice as Kendo-world - but work in progress) - www.charlottekendo.com
Good luck! Hope to see you soon.

Austin.. the Raleigh group has recently re-organized. Please check out our web site at http://www.trianglekendoiaido.org (http://www.trianglekendoiaido.org/)
We have 3 dojo's that we practice at. The UNC dojo is probably the closest to you. They practice on Friday nights. You can check out the web site for more info on all the dojos schedules (we run practices at UNC, Duke, and NCSU). Or email me for more info.
