Greetings all, I am The Scotsman (by the way for those who may have noticed, I chose the name before I realised I would have to share it with a rag of a tabloid newspaper  )

I am new to both these forums and I am going to begin practising kendo after my exams (about 2 weeks), I apologise in advance for any mistakes in terminology or stupid questions, I can only plead my inexperience (And stupidity  )

My first (possibly stupid) question is: What kind of financial cost is needed to get some relatively cheap equipment, and where could you get this equipment from? I have done some research, but I would just like to know if any of you have recommendations

Hello Scotsman!

What dojo will you be training at? I've met scottish kendoka at a winter seminar a couple of weeks ago :)

I will be training at a place called Taiseidokai in Glasgow, I think there's already one or two people on these boards who train there, I will hopefully start with a friend, which should help me get through the first few months (Which, from my researches sound torturous)

Hey there,

It costs 4 quid a practise or £30 for a month (3 practises a week). Get a bokken and a shinai before you start.
I wont be there for a while as i am currently stuck home wiw my leg in a cast (broken foot).
Just do what Mr. Kincaid tells you to do ;) and have fun.

I recommend http://www.ninecircles.co.uk/ for your equipment!
