Hello everyone,
At the moment i am in the market for a bogu. I found a nice one at eurokendo.com (the 3mm naname set) at a price i can afford.
I train in a club bogu now with a normal sized do. The gap between the top of the do and the bottom of the men is quite large. Does that gap become smaller if i take a XL do?
thnx for your answers.

It should be larger both in height and width. Which also means that it covers more at the side of your body (less hits on the ribs). I had to buy one because I'm so tall (2m).

I have the XL do and while it helps it's still about 2.5 inches too small. I've just gotten used to wearing the do higher which exposes your waist or hip more. I don't think there is any quick fixe other than getting a custom made one which from what I hear is fairly expensive.

I just got word back from te store. Both the do and the tare are 1 inch higher. I think that about covers the gap for me (I'm 1.90m tall) at least until i have the money to buy a custom.
I do think width is the same though since the supplier asks for a girth and a waist size.
I guess I'll just have to try to see if it fits. If it does'nt I can always send it back.
tnx for the replys. I think ill go for the XL then

Absolutely go for the XL at 190 cm tall (6'3" for the metric-impaired). Usually the width is bigger too when the size goes up.

Definitely the way to go. I'm your height, and weigh 204lbs/92kg, and I'm in pretty good shape (but could be better!), not overweight, and the XL do is still more snug than the recommended fist of space between my body and the do. However, because it sits right on me compared to the club gear I was using previously, the on target do hits never hurt, so it's not a problem except for really short people (kids) who consistently hit my tare by my right hip/thigh!

A fist is probably too much. So long as it can move up and down over the tare without getting caught, it's big enough.
