What made you all join Kendo in the first place. I would like to know why is it that intrests you, is it the art and honour that drives you all to it. So tell me what are your answers and please don't talk if you dont have anything that has to do with this thread.

To be honest it was the fact that your target exists and can actually hit you back. The rush the adreniline.

Went to Japan and wanted to do karate. Realised that hardly anyone in Japan actually does karate. Chose kendo because I thought I would learn more about Japanese culture, and walking past the kendo-jo it sounded interesting.
Please don't write in bold all the time. It doesn't give your comments any extra importance and is annoying to read.

I'm not sure why i decided to take Kendo, I guess it was my uncle. He studied it in Japan for a while, came back to the states, and shared some information about it. I liked the fact that they are so strict on how to hold the shinai, what to do when dropping it, etiquete(or how ever u spell it). There is more in Kendo then how to swing your sword around, it requires concentration, mental stamina. He said to care for it as if it were a real sword. The major thing that drew me to it was all of the respect they have for everyone(dought it is the same way everywhere :)), win or lose, they bow to you, same expression on their face, no frowns or anything. There is more in Kendo then how to swing your sword around, it requires concentration, mental stamina. Its definetly a unique martial arts(in a very good way :) ).

i have no idea why i like kendo so much. if you'd told me two years ago how much i'd love it now, i would have thought it was not my kind of thing at all. i started after our dojo did a demo at my school, and my friend was going and kept nagging us to come along. so i did. but now people ask why i like it, and i say "uuummmmm..." all i know is that i look forward all week to training and when im finished im always in a really good mood
