For any of you UK guys that watch The Ultimate Fighter, CONGRATS... you guys wupped the Americans (though your coach is a complete a-hole). Is MMA getting big in the UK?

I'll echo that. I really enjoyed this season. With the exception of Bisping, I think the UK guys handled themselves well both on and off the mat. Looking forward to Bisping vs. Hendo on the 11.

They were showing this on Virgin 1 so I thought I'd watch for a bit and it was fine, some gentlemanly sparring until the UK guy charges headfirst into the belly of the American and then all the smacking in the face starts and I just found it a bit grim to watch in the end. To each their own, but at least the experience made me appreciate this find (http://www.toothpastefordinner.com/042909/ultimate-hugging-championship.gif) today.

I´ve watched some UFC and I think the fighting is getting more should I say intelligent over the years. Or maybe it is me getting more stupid.

Maybe both? :wink:

The fighters are definitely evolving, I would recommend checking out fights with Anderson Silva or Lyoto Machida (current UFC Middle- and Light Heavywight champs) for examples of intelligent fighting styles. Those guys hardly ever take damage.

Hmmmmm .... weren't the gladiators of old Rome highly endlorsed, and so became very popular just before Rome collapsed? Just a thought. :)

if its mixed martial arts, does that mean WE can join in? I want to mix up my iai and my kendo... I'll take my shinken and do kendo.:laugh:

The sad thing is if you suggested it the organisers would probably think it would be a good idea....:rolleyes:

Actually, the Dog Brothers (http://www.dogbrothers.com/) guys once pitched a concept to the UFC (the pre-Zuffa one, where pretty much anything went) regarding a fight league that would basically be MMA with the addition of rattan sticks. Even they thought it was too extreme for their format. Can't imagine what kind of reaction you'd get if you suggested shinken:tongue:
