Hello everybody - it's great to be able to be a part of a community who loves and is involved in the same arts I am. ^^ I'm sure I'll get to know a lot of you, and I look forward to it!

In terms of this thread, I was wondering if any of you would know the answer to this question:
I very recently aquired a nice iaito katana for the Iaido class I take. The sageo cord was tied extremely neatly in a really complicated knot pattern (I'm sure all of you are familliar with what this looks like if you have bought an iaito or seen pictures). Of course, though, it had to come undone in order for me to use the cord! So, I was wondering if any of you knew how, or where I could find out how to tie it back again, just for organizational purposes, and so when I hang the katana on my wall, the cords aren't hanging everywhere. I've looked everywhere online and I can't seem to find any instructions.. Thanks a lot, sempai!

Its ok if you can understand him telling you, but it's quite complicated to tell It think. Here are some links with pictures, if that helps.

There are many different ways to do it, making it complex is nice, but it takes time and you probably don't want to do it after EVERY practice. Maybe you will only do it if friends comeover, then show them your cool iaito. Well goodluck, I still wonder how that guy can give such good directions on how to tie it? Post it, I wanna see if I can follow!

if you want to make flashy displays of sageo, use a knot making book as a guide. There are some really nice ways of tying up sageo, some of which are better than the way you got the iaito in the first place. me, I use my iaito all the time so it never gets done like that any more. My spare iaito is used for my students so I cant even do that one up!
