Greetings fellow kendo-ka,
You are cordially invited to the first ever William and Mary Invitational Kendo Tournament. This get-together was thought up to improve ties between the many spread-apart kendo clubs in Virginia. We anticipate a weekend of friendly competition, meeting new people, networking, and just plain having a good time.
The tournament will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2004 at Adair Gym on the William and Mary campus in Williamsburg, VA. Doors open at 8:00 a.m. and registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Team and individual matches will take place throughout the day, ending no later than 5 p.m. Testing and goodwill geiko will be held the following day on Sunday, starting at 9:00 a.m.
Testing will only be held for ranks up to 2-Kyu. All individuals interested in testing must bring testing fee and the completed testing form(s) to the testing. I will post testing fee cost once I know them and hopefully the forms as well.
The cost of registration will be $15 dollars. Bento lunches may be purchased for $10 each for the tournament on Saturday.
We recommend you make a reservation at the Holiday Inn Express for a group rate of $59.00/per room plus tax. The group name is “William and Mary Kendo Tournament.”
