Hi everyone, if this topic has been disscussed before, was looking to build some Uchikomi Shinai. i have a few extra tsuka lying around, and plenty of broken shinai.
i was just wondering if you could just use an old tuska to cover the datotsubu. Also how short should it be cut? any tips on making these? thanks in advanced for any help.

Yes you can do it;I have already done it. How short to cut? Ok this is depending on the tsuka used to cover datotsu bu, because due to sizes and take shape may is not possible to bring this tsukagawa in proper position. Good luck

I'd say just eyeball the take and tsuka and go for it.

thank you for the advice! eyeballing worked out just fine, i'll post some pics later if i have a chance. "for some reason that sentence sounded completely wrong."
the only weird thing that happened was that the handle and the striking surface are the same in length, and the striking tsuka had a hard time going getting past a knotch.
