Just wanted to say that my bogu arrived (No more club bogu!!!!) , its super awesome and I'm super happy. It smells all nice and leathery! (that wont last heheh)

Also, I could also say "How do I know if it fits?" but that isn't as important as sharing my glee about it arriving. (Its important, but I'm also going to ask my dojo mates... :) )

So far, it all seems to fit well (in my little novice opinion on the matter) and the best part: I think I can move better and hold a better kamae in the doh! OMG it feels better! I really hope it DOES fit right (its not supposed to be extra big like the kote right?) because I feel more agile in it and its just easier to move!

Yay! :cheerful: Nice smelling, brand new bogu!

And may I be the first to congratulate you. Many many more hard trainings and a long journey ahead.

Congrats again!

Where did you get it?

Any pics? I ordered mine and it's coming in Tuesday, so I'm all excited as well.

Very nice. Congratulations! Is a nice feeling having your own bogu.

I hope that you get many years and many good trainings out of it.

Thanks :)
Again, it will be nice to have my own bogu, instead of having to wear the clubs bogu. (which probably never fit quite right!)

Do you have any pictures of it or your first practice using it? How many times have you practiced with it? Oh, btw, as you probably know that new bogu smell doesn't last long but at least if will smell like you and not other sweaty people like club bogu does. ;)

I just took some pictures of it and I will get them up in a bit. I haven't been to practice with it yet. I will wear it either today or tomorrow.

Ok, Uhm, I WILL get photos up...probably...patience patience! :D

Anyway, I am SUPER excited because apparantly, the club bogu really didnt fit. And uhm, I can MOVE better in my new bogu!!!!

Except- I might need some kind of chin pad or something else for the men. I have had several people tell me that it isn't fitting right and that its dangerous cause my neck is too exposed. and my eyes arn't looking through the proper place in the grill. (uhmm, even though that was the same thing with the club bogu and it was probably just as dangrous cause it was also too big? But then again, the lilttle neck protector thing...sorry I don't know the name...?... still protected my neck cause it was so big.)

So anyway I am excited cause I feel more agile (especially in the kote and do). But the kote is also super stiff, and there is oddly enough, a seam at a place on my hand that dug a hole in my skin. :( Will have to figure that out too...

I'm so excited that I've started to dream about kendo!

I think the greatest feeling when you get your new bogu is when you look upon your brand new shining do! Nothing beats that feeling!!!!!! Don't you think so? Or at least that is what i felt when i bought my new bogu 5 months ago......

LOL
Thats great!

I'm mostly sad about when the nice bogu-leather smell turns into= sweat.

Oh and I'll see if I can get a friend to photograph me in it. ^.^

omg though, I'm almost afraid to show my face on this website. I'm kinda loud and vocal here, and I feel like I embarrass myself a lot (not that I'm any different in person)... >_<

Dont worry, just wear the men and you will look like every one else in bogu.

Besides being vocal is never a bad thing. As long as the ninjas dont recognize you youll be fine.

Your neck is too exposed? That doesn't sound good. You have to send the men back, or have you already used it in practice?

The kote is stiff because it's new. They'll wear in as you use them; you can also do the stuff in the Chiba Bogu page I linked you to.

Well, when you go way past that point, and you have several hundred people perform literally 100s of 1000s of do cuts on your do*, you get this (http://kendowebproject.edublogs.org/files/2009/09/haga-do.jpg)** excellent example of wabi-sabi. Haga sensei's do is literally a museum piece: far more valuable now than it was new.

b

* I wonder how many do cuts it actually takes.
** You have to have a real (urushii) lacquered do to get this effect though.

uhhh, I think I've embarressed myself too much online for me to want you guys to know my real identity... :D Although, I'm sure someone will find out someday.

It's just neat to know that I can be going to tournaments and stuff, and meeting you people (and you meeting me) and you'd never know it. heh. But its also nice, cause, you know, I actually have embarressed myself online a bit.

One of my dojo mates said (after I told em my name here) "wow, you're all over the place on here". Heh, oops.

Well, I'm very talkative irl too, (though at first I may seem shy- if so, its just a trick. Ya gotta grow to like me before I end up driving you nuts :D)

So overall, I want to keep my identity a secret for now. Heh

I have a feeling i could talk to you for a couple of minutes and figure out you are MAgirl. Your curiosity and willingness to express your feelings makes you pretty unique. I think that itself would give you away. Plus new bogu........

Dont worry about being embarressed. You only learn by asking questions and making mistakes. As long as you are proud of who you are it will not matter. Keep your secret for know, But the minute I hear a New York accent i will be on the case.

How have you liked your new bogu by the way??????

Come on just put them on the board, I don't live anywhere near you or your dojo so it's less likely I'll recognize you ;)

I don't have a NY accent. :D

I love my new bogu! At first, it was a pain, because I needed a chin pad for my men. I have one now and it works well, but I had to use something sticky to make it stay in place. (sometimes the sticky thing needs replacing, but that is occuring less often now that the pad is getting used to its new home :D)

Also, at first the kote cut up my hands a little... because they were stiff, but thats not happening anymore either.

But I loved the do (doh?) the moment I started wearing it. I didn't realize this, but the club bogu do (as were the club kote and men) were waaay too big for me, and it was getting in the way of my movement. I feel so much more agile in my own do!

And yea, I think you'd recognize me quite easily. My dojo mates are always teasing me cause I talk too much. :\

My kote still smell pretty strongly of smoked bacon (which is what they smelt of when I first got them, not as strong smelling as then, though) as opposed to sweat. Which is weird, since I've been wearing them for about five months now... o3o Maybe my sweat doesn't stink so much? I unno. O_o;
