So shinais break easily, excuse me if this is bad( I'm new to the kendo
world) but can't you simply ducktape your whole shinai for more support?

Shinai's dont break easily, unless mistreated or exposed to excessive force.
If you ducttape them, you will take away a lot of the flexibility and you will start hurting people.

Even if you duct-tape the shinai, it will eventually still break. However, having duct-taped the shinai, you cannot inspect for minor breaks and disassemble and repair them. The result is that your shinai might "last" longer than other's, but when it did break, it could break so catastrophically that the tape might not contain all the debris and the sharp bamboo shards, thereby causing serious damage to your training partner.
Don't duct-tape your shinai. Many many people have been practicing kendo for very long time. If there's some seemingly brilliant idea of yours that other people don't use, it's because of a good reason. Just follow the tradition; all the reasons for "the traditional way" will become clear to you later.

How could we ignore chemistry? The adhesive and the bamboo will undergo a violent reaction that will destroy the entire city block.

ducktapin ur shinai to make it last longer would be like supergluin the top of a bottle, to save water ineffective and useless

Not being a chemist, can't comment on the chemical reaction between the adhesive backing of the duct tape and bamboo. Don't think you're a chemist, either. We, however, do practice kendo, so why don't you let me be the kakarite and you the motodachi, and I'll tsuki you five times with one of my broken shinai's held together by duct tape? I probably won't destroy a city block... don't know about your throat and the carotid artery, though...

I've been hit with a Shinai wrapped in Duct tape. It hurts. It's not fun at all. Plus you wouldn't think it but it does increase the weight of the shinai and makes it harder to control.
