Hello,

I've been practiciing kendo for 4 months, I'm really happy with it. Having really fun.

I'm a little overweight, but by now I was doing fine. (I'm 32 y.o).

I live far from the dojo, and last week when I was on the car, driving home, my right knee started to hurt... It was an awful pain and I almost had to stop the car. Somehow I got home and as soon as I was out of the car (standing), the pain stopped. It seems that it hurted when the leg was half-flexed.

That was on thurstday.
This tuesday I was training and I felt that my knee was far from well, I could'nt do fumikomi cause I was without strength on my knee... and now I'm worried.

I know I have to go see a doctor, but I know what he'll tell me "stop practicing kendo".

Any advice?

(please, excuse my english).

Yes, stop practicing kendo for now and see a doctor. If possible, see a sports medicine specialist - they are usually more understanding of sports related injuries and have better advice for how to continue if it is possible.

Maybe your Sensei will excuse you from that excercise? That way you can still get some practise in just not do the thing that hurts. Just a thought, Hope you get better soon.

Thank you very much for your opinions.

One of my senpais is a profesional shiatsu-therapeut, I talked to him and he says he will take a look at my knee after today's class.

Hope there will be good news, thanks again.

I suggest you go see a real doctor. Not to disparage the shiatsu guy or anything but if there's any real damage in there you really need to get it looked at by a medical professional.
