Hi,

today i had my second kendo class. We did basics and I had a lot of fun, although my left leg is hurting a bit.

In the beginning I was a little doubtful, if I would be able to do the kiai. When I was practicing karate a few years back, I always was too shy to do a loud kiai. (It was more like "meooow" LOL) But to my surprise it was not such a big problem. My kiai sounds terrible, but at least I have not that much fear to kiai, as I expected. Strange, but maybe this changed because I am a little older now and donīt worry about everything that much any more. :-)

After the beginners class, I was allowed to stay and watch the guys practice in full bogu. Very impressing, very beautifull. I hope I will stay with kendo.

Good night

Keep with it Meow for the first time last night I did what I call a one sided spar, maybe there is an actual term for it since I am not in armor yet my sensei just defended my shots and said to attack him as if I was fighting. It was a blast, I managed to land a few shots that I am sure they were gimmes lol....

We had a new guy join last night so I am no long the noob...lol rock on.

Cool.

But I am glad, that I do not yet have to wear the armor. I think itīs getting much tougher then.

For now I am trying to pick up as much basics as possible. Bogu-training starts soon enough, i guess...;-)

Thanks. I will remember this.

Basics are the most important thing in every art, I guess.

And don't get in a habit of leaning forward in your strikes a person my class learned the hard way in one of his first armored fights that getting hit in the back of the head with a shinai isn't fun at all.
