I got this http://www.nihonto.ca/Knives.mpeg as a forward yesterday.

I found myself chuckling and cringing at the same time.

There seems to several morals here.

Beware of 440 Stainless swords; keep them out of the Dojo -- let them hang on a wall if you must have one.
Use a sword only in a manner that it was designed to be used -- don't abuse your sword(s).
Practice under authorized adult supervision.

<SIGH>.

It's better he learned that way then dueling with a friend using those same stainless steel swords.

Hahaha :) “good thing about these katana’s are….” I think he made his point quite clear what $44 gets you ;)

Sorry about the terrible pun, but it had to be done.

No matter how fool proof the plan there is an American out there to prove us all wrong… watch the clip again I rest my case

I watched the clip with morbid fascination...

I've seen those 2 guys perform many times on that show on TV. Whenever they were selling "japanese" swords," it was always the young guy up there talking and twirling the swords. Yes, twirling. He would unsheath the sword and proceed to twirl it to show how "balanced" it was. I was always expecting something like this to happen (someone getting hurt), but I must admit I never saw him banging the sword, much less thought he would get hurt in such manner.

I'm not gonna watch it since i'm a little sensible since i saw that guy getting is throat cut open by a knife (anyone saw it?). Seeing people die for real, even in a video, is not a nice thing to see.

Could somebody describe it to me??
thanks

Thank you Mr. Sosnowski, you have made my day. I love the look on the fat guy's face at the end of the clip. I wonder how many people, who had bought swords from them, have injured themselve in a similar way.

Kenshin,
See that is the kind of stuff I was talking about. And don't feel bad for him; that is poetic justice.

Mr Viking is right imagine that one guy getting injured by the cheap blade I am sure it was just a flesh wound, saved about 1000 people watching that show from being injured seriously.

I can't believe they are selling flea market swords for 44 bucks! That was hilarious though. I like when the other guy says "We uh..may need emergency surgery in the studio". Anything for ratings!

well that is what you get for lying.
"The good thing about these practice katanas *bang bang chink* owwww!"
heheh right before he was about to lie about them (I could tell he was going to say they were sturdy or strong) it broke. lol hm.. I dont know what to say..

Now there's irony.

One word....Karma

And it was such poetic timing. The universe is good to us. Not only is it punishing the liars but humiliating him aswell. It reminds me of something the late Bill Hicks said once in a show "If anyone here is involved in sales, please, kill yourself....Seriously!"

Unfortunately that link is no longer legit. A couple of threads on e-Budo.com had a number of different links to the same clip.

Thanks Raymond.

Now that (guy in the video) was very silly.

Mind you, the blade barely touched him, and he was obviously in some pain. Puts seppuku into perspective. That must have hurt like heck.

You're welcome. I'd chalk up the guy's reaction to shock -- if you have never been hit (especially in the abdomen) or never been cut, that first one just overloads the nervous system.

Does anyone know if they are still on the air?

lol that didnt look like it hurt much.. that guy sounded so cheap though "Well folks.. we may need.. emergency surgery..... in the studio"
lol emergency surgery? por a pinprick?.. how about a bandaid and some neosporin, a bit of ice for the pain? he wasnt spurting blood from his side.. I mean ive seen somebody get poked by a katana.. they just whent "ow" for a bit. (it was my brother actually.. then he accidentally broke my bo-staff while spinning it around. I was mad... )
