Wow that was great! Even with my connection sometimes dropping out and missing the ends of some matches, it still meant I got to sit back like a good Aussie bloke and watch my favourite sport all Sunday arvo.

After last year's hard grind between Hamasaki and Furukawa in the final, it was astounding to see how Funatsu demolished Hamasaki in what must have been under a minute! The final was a similar demo job. At least I got to see those matches' winning points.

Overall though, I felt like the first man to be watching "live via satellite" sport in the 70s. I couldn't get over the fact that even though it was only me and 179 other people, we were still able to watch the 8dans live! No ads, no commentary, no camerawork. Just raw, live footage. Brilliant!

And gotta love living in the same timezone as Japan! :D
