hi i have a question and that is if you are sparring with someone and you are the one receiving, which side do you turn to after they have hit?

if your sparring, i don't think that anyone is on the receving side...but if your practicing with some one then i THINK you turn to the left...i've been having probems with that too...

Hi,
In my dojo, motodachi (the one who is receiving) usually have the attacking kenshi pass to their left. The only thing that matters is that the motodachi must turn towards the side that the attacking kenshi passes by (i.e., if the attacker passes towards the right of the motodachi, the motodachi should turn towards their right side).

to keep it in simple words:
turn the side which your opponent's shoulder pushes you.

This is a more common problem for the attacker than the receiver, but for both sides: turn towards the opponent. If you go by with the opponent on your right, turn to your right. If you get attacked and he goes by on your right, turn to your right. Turning the other way exposes your back.
