Jodo = 9.4% pass rate.

Iaido = 4.7% pass rate.

Kendo = 1.2/1.4% pass rate.

Ouch.

Actually the pass rate was quite generous this year. It's been under 1% lots in years previous.

I was commenting more on the dropoff rate! :D

Well check out the numbers applying for each, 32 applying for jodo would indicate that Japan isn't exactly top-heavy on jodo sensei so there's some room. The other thing is that only 3 passed for jodo while 21/1530 passed for kendo It's just the tyranny of small numbers.

Hey, I see Jean-Pierre Reniez in the photo from the ZNKR website!

Ooh, I also noticed that one of my old teachers, Yojima Sensei from Chiba passed his 8th dan iai...

Hachidan is the max-rank in ZNKR Jodo these days just as in Kendo right? No new 9-10 Dans out there?

Correct!

Names are:

Tokyo: Fujisaki
Hokkaido: Yasumaru
Ehime: Shiraishi

No-one sat for Hanshi, either.

Actually Hamish jogged the brain cells, hanshi is the max top rank, not hachidan. The "hanshi change in different rooms than the hachidan do" is how it was explained to me.

Isn't Fujisaki one of the police instructors?
