Those fine items are de riguer among the 4-K crowd (http://www.e-budo.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12982&highlight=krappy%2Bkarate%2Bkatana%2Bkamae).

GAH! MY EYES!!!
Seriously, those are hideous. If someone wants a unique outfit they should just go ahead and get a tiger or an oni face or something embroidered on the back of their keikogi. Much more tasteful as far as uniform designs go.

I think they would execute you on the spot if you only considered entering a tournament like this! :D (and I don't mean japanese traditionalists, I mean everyone with common sense and acceptable tastes ;) )

Its reminds me of the kabuki. The colors are hilarious. You suppose the dye bleeds too?

They look reasonably restrained considering what the Sumo referees get about in

Those are two totally different ballparks. You can get hakama and kimono with bright colors, but there are times and places to use them. While practicing martial arts is not one of them.

Says who? Never seen any jidai geki? And you're saying that Sumo is not a martial art?

Ya those are terrible, not like my awesome rising sun hakama and keikogi which have the rising sun radiating from my back! Please note that i do not actually own this although i might not mind owning one if it was done nicely and not overly colorful and rediculous.

My mistake. Forgot about that one. There are probably other examples out there, but I was referring to more mainstream stuff like kendo and judo.

Heh heh heh. Funky looking Hakamas. The ancient Samurais would be jealous if they were still alive today and saw those. :p
I think the people who made these funky Hakamas and the people who are gonna buy them should consider, Are the masters in Japan wear these? True, everyone should be unique and wear whatever you like. I guess to me, these American Ninja Hakamas are tasteless. That's just me. I'll most likely only see these on the kids (and some adults, god knows why  ) doing sport Karate at a Karate tournament.

Brilliant... If someone made a Union Flag (a.k.a union Jack - British flag) then I would buy one....
