I know that lots of schools tell their students to not lift their feet from the ground when they move and attack and to use sliding movements. But my school and some other schools teach us to lift our feet and stomp while striking a men or dou. I'm wondering if this could affect getting points in competitions as a mark off on posture.
Thanks.

Stomping while striking is totally normal. It's called fumikomi, and is usually a requirement to score. All the points scored in this video have quite an audible stomp to go with them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaObX3mcy-I

It's the lifting your feet off the ground AFTER the hit that'll get you the scorn.
