Hi all,

I'll be spending the next 4 months or so in Suzhou and am wondering if anyone knows if there are any kendo dojos there or in Shanghai?

Thanks,
Rachel

There's one in Shanghai:

http://www.shanghai-kendo.com

Their site is in Japanese but without any contact details (!!!). It says they train every Sunday 9am-12, with yudansha session starting at 10.30am.

Their dojo is in "Nihonjin kaku Taiikukan" -Japanese School's sports gym. No map (!!!)
http://www.sjscn.com/
The address on their site is "Shanghai-shi Hungmei-ru no. 3185" -Hungmei Road is a loooong loop going around Shanghai. I can't find where #3185 is, so you'd better check with the local.
Oh wait, there is an email address at the school site so I think you can check with them.
Good Luck.

hi rachel, i have taken kendo at the school in shanghai. I must say that it will be quite far away if you are based in suzhou, but it is not hard to find anyway. if u come of the north/south inter-state getting off at xu jia hui lu and you go west, past the happening part of the xu jia hui center, eventually after a few miles you will come to a part of the city that is predominately settled by the japanese community. there is a street on your left (i dont know the name) that will take you to the japanese school where the kendo club meets on sunday to practice. if you just ask around when u are in that part of town i am sure they will point you in the direction of the school.
