I have seen a bunch of kendo training videos made by various parties and wanted to know what everyone thought of them or suggestions you may have (from you're experience)? Before I get someone telling me to go to a dojo instead, I do go to a dojo and I just used them for reference material and practice/training tips, sometimes it's good to have an overview to make sure you're not forgetting anything.
Thanks,
BAM

I've got the DVD set from E-bogu. The one that I found most helpful was the one on Kendo Katas. What was really nice about it was that Ariga sensei went over many common mistakes. Mind you, that didn't prevent mr from making different mistakes :p

Sumi sensei's "Kendo wa Kihon da! (Kendou is basics!)", Chiba sensei's "Kendo Perfect Master (someone uploaded it on youtube)".
I found Chiba sensei's moe didactical than the other, so if you're a beginner you'll find that easier to get the ideas than the one of Sumi sensei (though I'm not saying that one is better than the other).

Personally, I agree with ender's opinion on the matter (http://www.kendo-world.com/forum/showthread.php/24245-Review-Kendo-Principles-DVD-vol.-4-Nito-ryu?p=433680&viewfull=1#post433680); stay away from the "Kendo Principles" DVDs. Your money is better spent elsewhere.
Of course, I do not know if the two series quoted by Roberto above can be found in the English language, even subtitled. Even so, I think you'd gain more through them, compared to KP.

To expand on my opinion quoted above, for reference purposes you are better off videotaping a few of your practices, or your own sensei demonstrating and using that for reference. A videotape of yourself comparing what you really do to the image of yourself in your head is priceless.

Thanks, that's definitely something I will try as well, I have a couple of videos on my Sensei practicing with a higher ranking sensei from the area (they're good friends), I have been dissecting that rigorously.

The best video to me continues being the series of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHqVfoBQ7fs. It is by far the best material for introducing new practitioners to Kendo. It also shows advanced technique concepts useful to the intermediate level kenshi.

Inoue sensei's DVD series is a comprehensive study aid, providing a lot of detail and some different camera angles, etc. Clearly, he was trying to produce a guide covering both basics (and some training methods I hadn't seen before) along with introducing more advanced waza. In particular, I found Vols. 3 & 4 more interesting. The catalog of waza he presents in these later volumes will take some time to study to work into your own kendo.
