Does anyone know the official IKF/AJKF rules on the number of judges and their rank (dan) requirement for each level of testing (shodan through hachidan)? (I know for example, for the first round of 8 dan test, there are 7 judges who are 8 dan.) It does not seem to be specified in the rulebook. What I'm looking for is something like "for _ dan testing, _ number of judges of which at least _ is _ dan".

Only vaguely. (And it might not be accurate)
Ikkyu 5 x 3dan+
Shodan-Sandan 5x 5dan+
Yondan 5 x 6dan+

Thank you. Do you know if this rule applies to all IKF organizations?

These are the official regs taken from their document. They tried to make a change to them at the general meeting but many of the IKF organizations objected and it was tabled. I was told the changes would have made difficult or impossible to give a test for the smaller organizations.

Not sure what is on the table for the future. Japan made major changes to their regs for shogo I know.

Yeah. I can see how it can become a problem for smaller organizations. On the flip side, it may be a good method of "quality control". Thank you for the information.
