All -
It has been a long time since I visited these forums, it's great reading some of the terrific threads here. I have a question I think worthy of the forum and I am hoping the many learned individuals can help;

一歩進みて突き,一歩進みて断つ Ippo susumite tsuki, ippo susmite tatsu - which I would render "Taking one step forward I thrust, taking one step forward I cut (the enemy down)"

Don't know why but I seem to think this is an expression from Itto Ryu - I have searched these forums and all my back issues of KW but could not locate an example of anything that is a good match. Also tried a search in Japanese with no luck.

Hoping it is obvious to someone here and you all can clue me in to where this might come from, what ryuha it is associated with, what era it might be from and if you can expand on the meaning at all.

Any help appreciated,
-t

Since this concept has to do with a koryu you might increase the probability of getting an answer by also posting your inquiry on the e-budo forums (http://e-budo.com/).

Thanks, I'll consider it but don't really want to join any more forums. Hope that there are some Ko-ryu scholars lurking hereabouts...

No problem, if i might make one last suggestion, since this section is Kendo specific, you can ask Neil (http://www.kendo-world.com/forum/member.php/332-Neil-Gendzwill) to put your current thread in the Kobudo section (http://www.kendo-world.com/forum/forumdisplay.php/5-Kobudo) of the forums.
