First off i'm in kumdo so I dont know the names of the kendo things. But I was wondering what the different styles are in kendo, and what exactly basic consists of in kendo?

I don't know where or from whom you learn kumdo, but you should know that kumdo=kendo (unless you do HaeDong Gumdo or any "kumdo" which is not in the same organization as IKF and KKA). And YES jodan is used by Korean (kumdo) people too. This topic has been written about to death in the forum. Search.

There is a US Classical Kendo Fed. (http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Garden/6305/) that proportedly still teaches pre-WWII Kendo, althoug they also do modern Kendo.
