shinai too thin?

hi,
right now i'm considering if i should buy the "musim" 39 shinai for women from kendoshop.
but i get the feeling that "musim" is a thin shinai (considering the price.... AND the weight 0.48kg) and ergo i fear that it breaks easily. now, if the standard musim is already thin - how thin is the women's version then???

has anyone of you ever used the "musim" shinai (standard or women)? what were your experiences with it?

I purchased several of the kendoshop musim for the guys and gals at my dojo. While the overall feel of the shinai is a bit too thin for me (as I usually get my shinai elsewhere), the musim were basically alright. The peopel at my dojo have been using them and working with them and there doesn't seem to be any problems on frailty. These people are just starting out and so they hit pretty hard as well. I also got a few women 38s and they are fine. I think for a person with more experience on how to condition a shinai and take care of it, the shinai from kendoshop should last just as long as any other standard china made shinai.

I am using musim shinai. (two standard 39 inches shinai). They are ok. Most people in my club also uses Musim shinai. So far, no one breaks his shinai yet.

I'm using a musim shinai at the moment. Seems like I'm using a twig, but it's holding up very well.

Look after it properly and it should last you a while.

souljah + yangs, how does musim feel compared to other shinias? is the balance good (well, better: ok)?

The tsuka seems a bit thin for my liking. The balance seem ok I suppose. Can't complain too much considering the price.

i'm using musim ($15) shinai for about 2,5 years. it's balance is pretty much better then hasegava carbon shinais! :) but they are soooooo dry, they break in a first two weeks if not oiled for a 2 weeks or more. if properly maintained (regular reoiling) they last 4 month maximum. interesting - they work that 4 month ok and then turn in to dust for 2 or 3 practice. but price is good for a beginner shinay
