Ms. Lorraine d'Artois, <ldartois@oneskydojo.com>, has replaced Mr. Conrad Bucsis as the point of contact for the formation of the Canadian Naginata Federation; I have been told that a website is in the works and should be up very soon. I met her recently at the annual USNF Naginata Seminar held at Bryn Mawr College, Bryn Mawr (near Philadelphia), PA, on 10-11 July 2002.

If you are in Canada and interested in Naginata, then she is the person to contact.

This has been a long time coming as I was involved in an initial effort back in July 1999 in the Toronto area.

FYI, Naginata has been taught at the annual Guelph (Ontario) School of Japanese Sword Arts in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2002.

Sincerely,
Raymond Sosnowski

I practice naginata at the JCCC in Toronto.

It's great! Anyone who is interested should really give it a try. I am still a noob (started in January this year) and am not so good...yet.... it really is the highlight of my week.

There's a handful of people training in Edmonton, I think the guy teaching is nidan or something. If you google for Edmonton Kendo Club you should get the website/contact info.

That would be "Dokokai Edmonton, Alberta." Contact Deryck Webb at <deryck@nanuc.ca>. I met him at 3WNC in San Jose (CA) last June - he's a very nice guy.

HTH.

P.S. The current Naginata training places in Canada are listed at http://www.naginata.ca/en/dojo/.

Wonderful news. Is he at one of the established Dojo or is he forming a new one?

He should open a dojo in Montreal, he was member of the Federation who unfortunately left the French part of the INF. He's name is Antoine Fromentin. Good luck to him.

Thank you, David. I look forward to meeting him. I expect to be in Montreal for Naginata before the end of the year.

Yes there is a very very young Federation starting.

Lots of people in the Montreal area. As well as a few of us out here in Edmonton.

You should come visit!
