i ordered my bogu from koei in japan and i got a 50% discount off the catalogue and internet price. my bogu is machine made but i think that discount also applies to handmade as well.

i emailed them and they sent me a catalogue which came with a seperate piece of paper detailing what discounts are given for what type of equipment. the discounts ranged from 10-50% for export (although i live in japan i still got a 50% discount).

the catalogue prices are just a guide so ask for a discount. i visited a bogu shop in tokyo who were selling bogu from koei but were offering about a 75% discount off the catalogue price.

Well, every store has a sale, promotion, on-going specials, etc.
