mainly due to ignorance, the dependence of hollywood-marketing as interest-trigger, and the lazyness to find out the answer by using google instead of a forum.

or may be next time, try asking a question that haven't been asked before?

No but , its pretty bad right now , crap questions like , what is kendo , are there online kendo shops , are there kendo books

Altavista and google aint some new invention that went up 2 hours ago . you dont have to be Eddison to type "kendo" into the search engine at amazon.

Khabbi, if it annoys you so much, why not put together a faq?

Just out curiosity, Khabbi, how would you search for the above question?.
I mean, it's easy to search for 'washing uniform' or 'setting dye', etc (although it might produce a fair number of irrelevant results).

It may be an idea to create a kendo FAQ and put a link to it on the main page of the forum, something like:

'before asking asking any questions, please make sure your questions aren't already answered in this FAQ'

that would help avoid this situation again.

SORRY AGAIN BUT THAT IS A GOOD IDEAL

Or like I have said before don't let any one post at all and just look up old posts that might help .

In the UK all people on the TV talk about is Obesity, Smoking, Drugs, asylum seekers and Immigrants and under age sex. People have been talking about those types of things for 50 years or more and people don't seem to get getting at all bored :D.

Maybe some thing new has happened in Kendo, a new book, video on some thing or perhaps some one that knows more has joined the forum. Some times there is not much point in searching for some topic raised in 2001.

But on the other hand use some initiative. For example If you want to count to 10 in Japanese search the web first I am sure there are literally 1000s of sites what deal with that. Even some sound files to help.

Maybe this could be helpful as a starter FAQ.

How would this help when you guys aren't even motivated enough to read the very thread you're replying to? Jenny helpfully pointed to the JSA FAQ in post 2 of this thread.

I am getting motivated to update the FAQ, I think it could use a section regarding bogu shopping.

Ok, maybe I wasn't clear.

My point was that this or any other relevent faq should be on the forum index... so before posting this I logged out and checked if there was any such 'if you are new please read this faq first' type message and there was indeed such a link. However clicking on it lead to a blank page i.e. there was a title 'FAQ' then the bottom of the forum interface.

To illustrate my point, a newbie with a frequently asked question coming to this forum is not going to accidently open a thread called 'kendo rush', and click on the link in post two. A newbie is probably even less likely to know the inner workings of a forum well enough to be able to search for an answer to his/her question. However, no one misses a big fat link on the main forum index telling them to read this FAQ before posting.

An easy way to create such an FAQ would be to, rather than write lengthy answers to difficult but commonly asked questions, provide brief general answers and links to threads where that particular topic is covered in more detail. An FAQ as such needs a monthly update as more and more questions will be asked, answered and done to death over time.
