i read some where today that there were around 200-2000 but i dont know... 2000 seems to high for only 8% of the population could carry swords legaly...so id say in my oppinion 300 maybe4 b/c not everyone using a sword was trained in a school some wernt trained at all

A lot :). It wasn't uncommon that some swordsmen developped their own style, I think.
