Hi,
I would like to know what are the features you would like to have in good / practical bogu and shinai bags.
Would you prefer leather or synthetic, backpack type, extra pockets, how many shinai do you usually carry around, etc.
I have seen a lot of these bags but never found anything that would really satisfy me.
Thanks.

Alain...check the website for Bujin Design at www.bujindesign.com they manufacture a variety of bogu, shinai, weapons. and other bags like backpacks and waist packs....I have several of their bags and have the cordura materia....while fairly expensive I think the quality is the best I have seen and well worth the investment.....I have their shinai bag which has room for at least two or three shinai and bokuto with outside pockets....a weapons bag, and clothing back pack...I think these will last for many years and I am very pleased with them....:)

Alain...must agree with Jerry. I also have the bogu bag from bujin. as do many of the people I practice with. I couldn't be happier. It makes carying everything so easy. I really appreciated having it when I took my gear to Japan. The shinai bag can carry about 5 or 6 shinai as well as 2 bokuto.

Personally I just purchased a bogu bag from Kendoshop and it is a nylon material. I prefer nylon or leather bogu bags because they are water proof. There is nothing worse then soggy bogu :p
However, for shinai bags, even though I would prefer them to be water proof, I like the look of traditional canvas ones. My canvas shinai bag holds about 3 shinai and 2 bokuto.

I, too, can vouch for Bujin equipment. It is incredibly well made and durable. I have some shinai and katana bags that are 12 years old and look brand new. But that quality doesn't come cheaply.

Does anyone know of a bogu bag with backpack style shoulder straps, other than the one at bujin? It's hard to comparison shop when you can't find any other items like it.

Confound: a lot of the cheaper drawstring-canvas bogu bags come with backpack straps. These are the small brown canvas bogu bags that a lot of children use. You'll find them at almost any budo shop. It seems that the "fancier" you get with bogu bags, the less likely you'll find backpack-elements.
Fellas: there's a thread I started earlier about good bogu bags:

Everyone advocated the Bujin one and I bought it last week. It has yet to arrive, but once it does I'll give you all my verdict.
